The Farmer Wants A Wife

My FM and his GF are determined to break me.  That’s not very nice is it?  NO!  How are they doing it?  With SYTYCD.  I gave up TV 2 years ago – completely gave it up.  GONE!  But they’re roping me back into mind-numbing passivity with So You Think You Can Dance Australia.  And now that we’re going to the show next Friday I feel compelled to watch – darn them!

Tonight I decided to give it a go but it was so boring I was also working on my laptop and totally on purpose accidentally pressed the “PR” button (PR?? wt h.e.double?) on the remote and my TV magically changed to the show “The Farmer Wants A Wife.”  OMGOSH – where has this show been all of my life?

And why am I not one of the girls competing? ;)

It’s no secret that I had R.A.D.D. (and the reason this post gets the “Why my parents should be proud of me” tag is because I made that last sentence past tense.  ))  And it’s no secret that one of my blog categories is : “The L and M words – oh and the R word – are all dumb.”  AND it MAY or may not be true that one time I kinda sorta was asked to write a 1 sentence summary of the romance novel that I was going to write and I read the following in front of the entire class.  Oh and btw – I wasn’t trying to be funny either – this was actually my great idea:

X and Y meet and fall in love, but it is doomed to tragedy when X’s family murders Y.

Well that was a showstopper!  And I wonder why I’m not forgettable …

Anyway … even though my attitude has done a 180 with regard to the L, M and R words and I don’t think they’re dumb anymore – I still find it surprising to see people so full on about it.  Why are they chasing love?  Is it worth chasing?

I think maybe it is.  And I also think maybe I’ve been listening to that 1, 2, 3, 4 song by the Plain White Ts too much!  lol.

But back to the show.  These people have their lives in order.  They know what they want and they’re full on going after it.  And yes the whole idea of finding love that way -  is absolutely ridiculous - but isn’t it also a bit inspiring intriguing?”   These people believe in LOVE – in sparks – in chemistry – and they’re not afraid of it. They’re not afraid to be like – I WANT to get married and yeah I just met you but I like you and want to see where this goes.  AND because the M word (shudder ;)) is the immediate goal they aren’t just looking for a good time – they’re looking for a LONG time.   They’re FARMERS for crying out loud – they don’t care about looks or style. They’re looking for SUBSTANCE.  And that’s insane!  But at the same time – I think I’m hooked!  It will be my little indulgence emotional research – yeah research.

The Farmer Wants a Wife will sooooo be on the agenda next week.

Oh and cross your fingers for me – I’m supposed to hear back about my application TODAY.  The lady all but gave me a solemn promise that Thursday would be the day!!!  But promises schmomises – I’ve heard that before.  ( Oh well – it wouldn’t be THAT bad to go home for a few months while I wait for next semester … and I do keep saying that things happen for a reason – so either way – I’ll take it in stride with a smile.  )

Oh but if going home for a couple months means I miss any episodes of “The Farmer Wants a Wife” … we could have some trouble.  ;)

A new superhero power

I should really start keeping track of how many cool super hero powers I have. I figured out another one the other day. And then of course – let us not forget that I have SUPERHUMAN PERIPHERAL SPIDER RADAR VISION which is about the coolest thing evah (spelled “ever” in the U.S.) (read about it HERE – oh lol. And no I’m NOT graceful.)

Anyway – today I am happy to announce that I have discovered I have Extraordinary Obvious Pocket Locating Pow-ah (Power). Are you impressed?  Because you should be.  You see, as I mentioned in the linked post above, superhero powers that are a mouthful to say are better than those that are not.  And that means Extraordinary Obvious Pocket Locating Pow-ah is awesome by the title ALONE.  HOWEVER that’s not the ONLY reason why this power is so flipping sweet. No no, this power rocks because it gives me the ability to hide/store stuff – like cool superhero stuff – like lipgloss)

Want to know how I discovered this cool power?  I found a “new” pocket on one of my skirts today and then – the VERY SAME DAY (which is still today) – I discovered that the “decorative” pocket on my super fly new hat is actually functional! Decorative AND useful. How cool is that?

So anyway – that’s my BIG news for today. Extraordinary Obvious Pocket Locating Pow-ah.  I can’t really top that.  It’s just too cool.  Oh wait – omgosh – I ALMOST forgot!  I can’t TOP that but I do have other important news.  I’ve fallen in love with lychees.  Have you ever had a lychee? (spelled “litchi” in the U.S.) YUM. I LUV them.

Ok – better start my homework. I’m the only one in my group who does the reading so I have to do 3x as much. Have a happy Friday! And please feel sorry for me ;) as it’s going to be a scor-cha tomorrow (spelled “omgosh it’s so hot I think I’m going to die” in the U.S.) with temps close to like 1,000,000 Celsius and at least 134% humidity.  That’s hot.  So hot I won’t be able to wear my super fly new hat.  ( But hey – at least I’m a superhero. Do YOU have any cool superhero pow-ahs?

First Day of School

OMGOSH!  I can’t believe I forgot to take the classic First Day of School Pic!!  How remiss of me!

So this morning started out at 6:30 am, and even though the sun was already well above the horizon, it was my flatmate and his GF who were my little rays of sunshine this morning.  Aw – that’s so cheesy – but true!  We had a good laugh about D.B. from last night and my flatmate decided that I should cut D.B. from any future episodes of what he likes to call “Daisy-s of our Lives.”  No worries there!  He didn’t have a chance at a leading role anyway.

Next on the agenda – COUNTERTERRORISM AND HUMAN RIGHTS.  Doesn’t it sound absolutely thrilling?  What?  It doesn’t?  Why ever not?  You mean not everyone wants to write essays on Western Liberal Democracies and the resulting changes in their domestic terrorism policies post Sept. 11? CC+4 (who I still think is adorable) says he thinks it sounds interesting and I suppose it DOES sound interesting but my background in the University of Sydney’s Peace and Conflict department makes me VERY WARY!!! Very.

Class started at 10:00 but guess what time I arrived?  25 minutes EARLY!  Oh yeah – that’s right.  I figured a little aberration to the norm would be good to help shake things up a bit.  ) And NO it doesn’t matter that it was completely accidental – it still counts (thank you magic express bus that I never knew existed before today!!)   And I would appreciate it if you please do not use this example of punctuality as a frame of reference in the future.  ;)

So my class has 9 students.  1 of them being American.  (me!)  And 2 of them being slackers.  Of the 9 students in class only 1 was 2 hours late and only 2 (including the tardy boy) didn’t read the text before class.  Guess which two boys are in my group of 3 for the rest of the semester?  I am SO lucky!  Hmm …

It’s ok.  I didn’t want to get a good grade in the class anyway.  And WOW do I sound like a very optimistic and pleasant peach today!?  lol.  For real though – the good news is that I’m actually kind of excited to read the textbook.  And wow I can’t believe I just wrote that – I think I just lost a few cool points.  Thank goodness this private diary/blog is public – now NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW what a nerd I really am … oh wait.

Oh – so a Curriculum Vitae is a resume – gotchya.

What a trip the last couple days have been.  I’ve been struggling to get my application approved with the University of Sydney, trying to pack to go back, trying to have a “relationship” even though I leave TOMORROW!  Can you believe it?  I go back to Sydney TOMORROW!!!  Insane.

What am I doing having a crush right now?  And why have I written off other boys for this one?   This isn’t like me and it makes me nervous.  What am I doing?  I’M MOVING ACROSS THE WORLD TOMORROW – THERE IS NO ROOM FOR BOYS IN MY LIFE!  I don’t want to get my heart roped up in anything.  And not that I think my heart WILL necessarily get roped up in anything … but … well … I need to stop using “…” right about …. NOW.

It doesn’t matter though right?  I leave tomorrow.  I’m going back to the land of Oz where people talk funny and their tuna tastes better.  Oh and they have gelato – which is like my fave.   So, it doesn’t matter right?  Boys – dating – relationships – none of it matters.  And the little tug I feel pulling at my heart – that’s probably nothing right?  Right.

And by the way – a Curriculum Vitae is the same thing as a CV which is the same thing as a resume.  Just in case you were planning on applying for a job in Australia – it’d be a good thing to know.  )

AND – sorry about my slacking off on posting about the cruise and my Australian Story – I was with CC+4 last night and didn’t have time to post.  Soon.  I can’t wait to tell the story about how Adorable boy played the boy scout card and kissed me at the Whale Tail.  lol.

I’m back!!!

I’m back!!! I had a TON of fun this past week!!! But wow – it feels good to be back at a computer!!! The last time I wrote, I was on the cruise ship reeling from the notification that my application for the Uni of Syd is STILL having issues and from some dude’s ego-wounding blow-off. [which btw – he attempted to smooth things over but it was too late. Someone had already taken his spot as my Numero Uno Cruise Crush. WHAT? Shocking!!! And don’t act like you’re surprised please. ))

Here are some things that have crossed my mind over the last little bit – as well as some pics from the first couple days of the trip.

1.I have the coolest dogs EVER and I wouldn’t trade being a doggy mommy for anything in the world.

2.I was asked out on a date by 3 different boys for tomorrow – with 100% surety that boy 4 will also ask.  Yikes!!!  4 date options for ONE DAY – crrrrrazy!  Boy 3 (aka Numero Uno Cruise Crush) will be my pick.  I’m excited to see him tomorrow.  My Cruise Crush was supposed to end at 9:00 am this morning when the cruise was over – but he asked for a 4 day extension.  lol.  As it stands now he has until I go  back to Sydney… but I don’t think it will be quite so easy for me to turn it on and off according to preset time lines.

3.Kindred spirits are the BEST!!! Royann and Tracy (center) are my two new friends. They tell people I am their long lost sister. I LOVE it!!!

7. Video memories are freaking cool and I need to remember to take more videos!

8.  Someone sent me a text from a 702 area code asking me about the cruise – which means they are a friend – but I have NO IDEA who it is!!!  Ooops!!

9. Remember that time I told myself I would never ever talk about my blog in public again? No? Apparently I didn’t either. Darn it! And now CC+4 may read my blog – ooh – I’m so lucky – in the oh so sucky way.

10. I’m glad I don’t have any little sisters.
