Want to know what I did tonight?  I canceled my plans and spent the evening with my flatmates.  Wait what?  I had Valentine’s Day plans?  Kind of.  I was supposed to catch up with a “friend” this evening.  And it just so happens that this “friend” is a guy I’ve gone out with several times and who was the original star of The Days of My Life In Bondi 2026.  For those of you who missed those posts – he was romantic, hot and very, very smooth.  We kept in touch while I was away on holiday and when I got back we went on a “date” – which you may remember from the post BUGGED!?  Oh yes.  The Ultimate D.B.  He went from hero to zero.

Ok so this is the part where I skate over why I even considered going out with U.D.B. on V Day of all days.  Let’s just focus on the fact that I canceled.  That’s the important part.  And it’s thanks to 3 people.  # 1 – Govind – my new kindred spirit.  He took my own words about substance and long term goals and SHOVED them back in my face. Oh and we went to the coolest park today!!!  Here are some pics:

And then it was thanks to # 2 & 3 – My FM and my FM’s GF – who expressly forbade me from seeing U.D.B. again and told me that THEY would be my V Day plans. Oh LOL!!!!  My FM’s GF said, “Valentine’s Day is for being with people you love.”  So you know what I did?  I canceled and spent the evening with people I love – and it was great!

Ooh – it’s late.  I totally should be asleep right now – I have school tomorrow.  On Saturday.  I have school on Saturday – LAME!  And double lame because it’s Valentine’s Day!  Ah well – it’ll keep me distracted from the fact that MY sweethearts (which are none other than my adorable dogs Duchess and Chloe – aw – they’re so cute!!!!) AND any potential Valentine (like CC+4, Adorable Boy or Glitter Boy) are all 8,000+ miles away.

So I’m going to sign off for the night – tomorrow I’ll have to tell you about the crazy movie I saw, the yummy popcorn I ate and maybe I’ll even tell you about the new kindred spirit I’ve discovered (would you ever have guessed it’s one of guys who used to be one of the slackers in my group at school?)  lol.

Oh boy.

The book was GROSS!  GROSS!  And GROSS!  Like the part where he murdered 25 girls so he could wrap their body in linens to capture their smell.  Then when he was arrested the raging mob turned into a mass orgy, and instead of crucifying him and breaking the 12 major joints of his body, they worshiped him because using the perfume from his victims he created a perfume that made him smell like a God.  WHAT?  Or how about the end when this same perfume that made others worship him turned a crowd of normal people into cannibals and they ate him?  And they didn’t feel guilty for eating a HUMAN?

Out of the 263 pages that I read I liked three parts and they were at the very end so I decided to put them at the end of this post.

DAILY DOSE OF GOSSIP:

LOSER (from this post) sent me a text tonight at 10:45 pm saying “Too bad you’re not here right now!”  HAHA!  Too bad he didn’t show up to the party on Friday is more like it!

And then this guy who looks like MIUB asked me out and it’s weird so I haven’t said yes .  He talks like him too – it freaks me out a little.  He is like a less-built, less hair-gel, nervous version of MIUB.  LOL!  Can I really go out with MIUB’s younger, nerdier version?   Has anyone else ever gone on a date with a previous crush double?  Maybe I’m being dumb about it but I think it’s weird.  In fact – this may be a deal breaker …

Ok so before you label me as TOO pathetic – give me a little credit here.  It’s s already like 11:00 pm – the fam is all tucked away in their beds and I did stay busy the whole day.  YAY!

Ooh – speaking of staying up really late every single night and never being able to sleep – (wait a minute – I didn’t say anything about that!) do you think I’ll catch Santa tonight?  What a shame Santa is MARRIED and not hot.  It takes away the appeal of meeting someone late at night under the mistletoe.

And speaking of catching mommy kissing Santa Claus (umm … ???) guess what?  I’ve never actually kissed anyone under mistletoe and I think that is also a big shame.  Maybe next year.

Today was a fun day.  Lots of laughing and smiling.  I like that.  And now I’m smiling because of Holiday Bejeweled.  Ooh the addicting pleasure!  Part of the fun at our house are our traditions.  I thought I’d share a few of them.

CHRISTMAS EVE TRADITIONS

• Mexican Fiesta. There is no Christmas poultry at our house.  No no – we spice it up with a little Mexican buffet every Christmas Eve.  Homemade burritos, tostadas, tacos, enchiladas, chile verde, slow cooked meat, rice, beans, guacamole, salsa etc served up on gorgeous china.  MMMMM.  My SIL (sister-in-law) admitted she thought it was a little unusual the first year but it didn’t take long to convert her.  lol.  Now she looks forward to it like the rest of us.  MMMMMMMM YUMMY!
• GAMES, GAMES, and MORE GAMES! We try and introduce a new game every year.  As I mentioned in a previous post we picked Blokus this year but what I didn’t mention is that we added another at the last minute.  It was a gift from my Aunt.  The game is Stack It. And we played for a few hours competing against each other to see who could stack the fastest.  I’d like to announce I hold two family records.  Oh yes.
• The Muppets Christmas Carol – oh how I love the witty banter in this movie.  And then of course I ADORE the song which the Ghost of Christmas Present sings.

Oh and in other news I’ve solidified my position as a poser with the addition of a terribly recognizable designer hoodie to my jacket collection.  Hey – it’s hot ok?  Even my parents were like “Wow that looks awesome” even though it is funky/wild like the rest of this brand’s collection.  [shake my head at myself - at least I'm honest about it!]

I will be spending some quality time with my family.  I can’t wait!  And I’m going to pretend that stupid boys don’t exist to make the day all the merrier (normal non-stupid boys will continue to exist btw.)

In light of the holiday season I will refrain from venting at this particular moment but it’s been quite an interesting week!!!  And no doubt the next few weeks will be as well – New Year’s Eves always seem to suck for me and as a result I usually have great stories to tell.  lol.

This is not to say I won’t go shopping on the day after Thanksgiving, but it means I will not be a desperate despicable shopper.  Anyway – I went shopping today after all the crowds had mostly disappeared, after the special sales had gone away etc and it was fun.  I didn’t have to wait in lines, I didn’t really get any great deals but I went with friends and it was fun!!  So here’s a shout out to all the retail workers who had to work today!  I’m so sorry you had to deal with the super ROTTEN people but I hope I wasn’t included!!!  And thank you for working!!!

In other news, I bought two new pairs of shoes today that are drop dead sexy and I helped ScottPete pick out hot shoes as well (except his are BOY shoes.)

All write (yes WRITE not right) I better get to writing because remember that novel I was supposed to write? The deadline is Sunday and I am a far cry from being done ….

• My family.  Each and every single one of them.  They bring a deep and fulfilling element to my life.  I love them all.
• My dogs.  There is not a day that goes by without my smiling at their antics.  They are so adorable!  I truly believe we were fated to be together and I love them with all my heart.
• My friends.  In USA and in AUS.  Love you all!!!
• My life.  Sometimes I get really frustrated, scared, anxious etc, but I recognize I have a very fortunate life and I am appreciative of it.
• My blog readers.  Yay!  That’s right – I’m grateful for you!
• Flowers, blue sky, rain, cool breezes, rice, potatoes, glitter, eyeshadow, and girly lotion
• oh and animal prints – definitely grateful for that today. 

Ok – going to stop there before this post is too long.  But I need to let you know that I crossed off #38 and #39 on my 101 list today.  I passed my Key Issues class with a Distinction and received a High Distinction on my final essay.  I’m really jazzed about that.  I worked super hard in that class.

Today seemed a bit better.  I mean, don’t get me wrong, it was hustle and bustle ALL day long but it felt as a Thanksgiving day should.  My turkey turned out well – the food was all delicious.  The games went well – and yeah – it was nice to spend time with family.

At one point we all went around the room and listed something we were grateful for about each of the other members of the family.  ScottPete came up with a good one though and it made me feel loved.   My older brother didn’t really say anything that he was grateful for about me but I’m choosing to overlook it because I found out that my niece was partially named after me.  Daisy is not my REAL name – gasp!  shock! – and my niece and I share the same spelling of the last half of our names.  Of course I already recognized this – but now I know it was deliberate!  Ah – that made me feel REALLY special!!!

My dad’s thing about me was really nice too.  He said he was grateful for my attitude and that I always try and see the good in people.  I really do try so that was nice of him to notice.

My mom’s surprised me though.  After saying all of this great stuff about all of the other kids this is what she came up with for me,

“I’m grateful for Daisy and all of the hard work she did today.”

Nice.

Ah well – it’s all good.  She cried in happiness when I arrived unexpectedly on her doorstep two weeks early so I’m pretty sure I must being more than just cooking Thanksgiving dinner right.

Ok – so I really don’t have a ton of time to post because ScottPete and I are trying to pass the Pinball Challenge RIGHT NOW.  And there is this really freaky child fun house pinball that keeps telling me he’s not happy with me.  CREEPY!!  But if you see below you will find a recipe for my favorite Triple Chocolate Chunk Pecan Pie and I have included a few fun Thanksgiving ideas.

Turkey Cupcakes:

Triple Chocolate Chunk Almond or Pecan Pie

Oh and you will need a ready made or homemade 9″ pie crust.

Instructions:

1. Melt butter in medium heatproof bowl set in skillet of water maintained at just below simmer. Remove bowl from skillet; mix in sugar and salt with wooden spoon until butter is absorbed. Beat in eggs, then corn syrup and vanilla. Return bowl to hot water; stir until mixture is shiny and warm to the touch, about 130 degrees. Remove from heat; stir in pecans.
2. Pour mixture into warm shell and scatter chocolate pieces over pecan mixture; gently press the chocolate into the filling with the back of a spoon. Bake until center feels set yet soft, like gelatin, when gently pressed, 50 to 60 minutes. Transfer pie to rack; let cool completely, at least 4 hours. Serve pie at room temperature or warm, with lightly sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
