WA Update

I only have a few minutes to leave an update. :)  But I’ll try to pack in some great information while I can.  YAY!  :)

I’m sitting inside the Perth airport waiting for my flight to Geraldton.  I’ve just arrived from Kalgoorlie and this is my layover.  OMGOSH – Kalgoorlie – now THAT is a town for the memory books!  The whole town is old school gold mining – lots of miners – all of the buildings are in the classic “gold rush” or “old west” style architecture and they basically have saloons.  Ok ok – not SALOONS – here they are called “Skimpie Bars” – and I guess that means all of the waitresses and bartenders go around topless – so yeah – like a modern day saloon.  We chose to take the locals’ word for it and didn’t check it out first hand – but OMGOSH.  lol – this town is classic Australian.

The weather is hot – and if we’re facebook friends you may have noticed I’ve created a new ranking system for degrees of killmenow hotness.  Today we’re at the omgoshI’mgoingtodieit’ssofreakinghotoutside level.  Yesterday it was the omgoshomgoshomgoshIthinkIAMgoingtodieinthenext5minutesfromtheheat so really – today was an improvement.

I can’t wait to post pictures!!!  We went out to this lake which is mostly salt and a little water – there are creepy weird sculptures spread all over the lake that you can walk to (squish squish is the sound it makes when you walk over the salty goodness of the lake) and WOW can we say PERFECT setting for a new blair witch project??

Yesterday was also the day we flew in a helicopter to get aerial landscapes of the REAL outback.  It was SO COOL!!!!!!!  And I kept looking to see if any wild kangaroos were hopping about – but no such luck.  The only kangaroo we’ve seen was on the side of the road :( and well – we found a skull in our hiking that I thought belonged to a wild pig but was informed – nope – it was a kangaroo (what?? It had a snout – of COURSE I’m going to guess wild pig first!!! *embarrassed look* okok you can make fun of me now – there are no wild pigs in the outback.)

I have to run – our flight is about to board.  This is the first time I’ve had internet access the whole trip – hopefully I’ll have it again later and I’ll post a few pics.

Wishing you all a very happy December Holiday Season!!!!  (there are carolers in the airport – omgosh – it’s definitely too hot to be caroling!!!) And I’ll blog again and catch up on your blogs soon!!!  xoxo~Daisy

My mum’s cousin lived in Kalgoorie for awhile. She might still be there, I don’t know. Other than being Facebook friends with her because we’re related, I know little of her life and her journey.

I won’t laugh at you for thinking it was a wild pigs skull. Nobody likes to think about dead kangaroos.

Sounds like you’re having a great trip so far and creating some fun memories. Can’t wait to see more.
