I don’t like liars

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.

I struggle with people I can’t trust.  I struggle with people who over-react at simple questions because guilt is their automatic response.  I struggle with people who ask me to keep things secret that really shouldn’t be kept secret.  And I struggle with people who blatantly lie and honestly expect that their audience is so stupid so as not to notice they’re lying.  It kind of makes me wonder if it’s a total projective thing.  Are they really that stupid to think we don’t all know they are lying?

What type of person lies to your face when you both know the person is lying?  I get the small little lies, “No he was a jerk, you weren’t meant to be together anyway.”  Or “Wow – that’s an interesting haircut!”  But the other lies – the lies that are so pathetic – like, ” I don’t know what you’re talking about.”  Or “That’s bull-shiz.”  It makes me wonder just how sleezy a person must be to lie in this regard.

I don’t like liars.  And I especially don’t like liars who act like I shouldn’t care that they are liars and should trust them anyway.  Umm – well NO.  Sorry but it doesn’t work that way.  If you’re a liar, I’m not going to trust you.  It’s that simple.

One Response to I don’t like liars

There are way too many liars in the world, and that’s why my automatic response to a new person is to generally not trust them. If something sounds dodgy or far fetched, it probably is. And when you work in tax where everyone is after the biggest refund they can muster, chances are everyone is a liar, making stuff up and telling me what they think will get them the most money back.

It’s sad the lengths some people will go to for money. I can only imagine the lies people tell for love (or sex for that matter)
