For years I've thought of myself as an optimist, but I'm starting to think I've either always been or I am becoming a pessimist (although, like all pessimists, I would rather if you called me a "realist")

For example, most poems about hope and how much it can do for you and how all you need is hope and blah blah blah.. they leave me feeling nothing at all. I don't agree with or relate to the words in front of me.

But then I read this and I go "Yes! That's exactly it! That's what hope is right there" and I wonder if I'm caught in the captivity of negativity.

Whatever. I enjoyed the poem and that's all that matters.
